2017-2018 Pre-Season Update
2018-2019 Pre-Season Update
1. Regions same as last year.
In 2017, the West Virginia Youth Wrestling Association Board of Directors has voted to consolidate regions to a four region system like is used in West Virginia high school wrestling. The Regions adopted do not align with either AAA or AA/A regions; however, they seek to keep a balanced number of youth wrestling teams. 6 wrestlers per region will qualify for the State Championship to build 24 man brackets. Seeding and bracketing will be done on a “pill” system. Stay tuned for details.
The 2018-2019 region map is below.
Contact your Region Chair or Vice Chairman for more details.
WVYWA Regional Tournament Date
The Regional Tournaments will be hosted on February 10, 2018 at the following locations:
Region I – Parkersburg High School
Region II – University High School (This will either use two gyms or be a split tournament to alleviate the crowding issue Region II had last year).
Region III – Lewis County High School
Region IV – Huntington High School.
Region Chairs will disseminate weigh in times and entry forms as we get closer to regionals. The entry forms will also be posted on www.wvmat.com.
